What is a Job Refusal?

A failure to accept a suitable offer of work can result in the termination of unemployment benefits. While the definition of suitable work will vary from state to state and can change based on how long an individual has been unemployed, generally suitable work is defined as a job that offers wages comparable to their most recent employment and work duties that correspond to their education and previous work experience.

Job Refusals should be reported to the state when they are received to ensure that benefits are only paid when appropriate.  This can protect both your account and the overall state Trust Fund balances.
